Route: Bangkok - Chiang Rai - Luang Namtha - Luang Prabang - Mahout elephant camp - Vang Vieng - Vientiane - Bangkok

This short Laos itinerary features the most interesting, exciting and adventurous north Laos attractions. You'll kick off your holiday in Bangkok, where you can wander through the bright light of Khao San Road and visit the Golden Palace before heading to north to Chiang Mai, where you'll begin an adventurous trek through the wild landscape at Namtha on the Thai border. Next you'll travel to the Laotian city at the top of most travellers' must-see list for Laos: Luang Prabang. While in town, go on a bike ride through town and take care of elephants at the elephant refuge, an unforgettable experience. Next, you'll visit Vang Vieng, the place to be for outdoor enthusiasts, before heading south along the Mekong River to Vientiane. Finally, you'll complete the loop by travelling back to Bangkok, where your itinerary ends. Accommodation varies from cosy guest houses to basic home stays and charming bungalows. Your Laos holiday begins and ends in Bangkok, which means you can take advantage of affordable and efficient international flights.

Route: Bangkok - Vientiane - Luang Prabang - Boloven Plateau - Khong Island - Ko Chang

This Laos holiday itinerary is perfect for travellers who want to see as much of the country as possible and want to end their trip on a relaxing sandy beach. Start off in booming Bangkok where you'll board the overnight train to the border. Via the capital city of Vientiane you’ll travel on to the green hills of northern Laos.  Here you’ll visit Luang Prabang which is considered to be one of the most enjoyable cities in Laos by many travellers. Wander through the cheerful streets, visit the evening market in search of souvenirs and visit one of the many colourful temples. You’ll also make a short trekking and stay overnight with the local hill tribes.

After Vientiane, you'll head south. Southern Laos is known for its green rainforests, plunging waterfalls and the mighty Mekong River. Finally you'll cross the border at Pakse into Thailand where you can spend the last days of your trip relaxing on the white beaches of Ko Chang.

Travel across four countries in four weeks and discover a fascinating mix of cultural highlights, historic monuments and natural beauty and experience the richness in culture and tradition of the four Asian countries that together make up Indochina. Starting in Bangkok you’ll travel through the green rice paddies to Laos and across the highlands to the serene town of Luang Prabang where you’ll be woken to the sound of chiming temple bells. Then it’s into the jungle to train as a mahout and help wash the elephants. In Hanoi you’ll get your first taste of the energy of Vietnam before boarding a wooden junk and sailing through the magical world of Halong Bay. Next it’s the green fields of Sapa and the harrowing tunnels of Cu Chi in Ho Chi Minh City, before sailing to Cambodia through the Mekong Delta. Via the Killing Fields of Phonm Penh you’ll wander among the overgrown temples of Angkor Wat before ending up back in Bangkok almost a month later.
