Southeast Asia itineraries - The Grand Palace

Modules from Thailand to Laos Southeast Asia itineraries

Combining your Laos trip with neighbouring Thailand isn’t just a practical idea (there are no direct flights to Laos from the UK), it’s also a great way to make your trip even more exciting. Beginning in the lively capital city of Bangkok you will travel to the River Kwai area, then on by train to northern Thailand where you will meet the colourful hill tribes and go on an elephant ride. If you want to enjoy a couple of days relaxing on a tropical island at the end of Laos trip, Thailand has plenty of options.

Using the following Laos travel modules you can combine your Laos trip with a stay in Thailand and create an amazing Southeast Asia itinerary. Modules are short bite-sized travel experiences generally lasting 3-4 days. By combining individual modules you can build your own personal itinerary. The modules we’ve outlined here start in Bangkok, so you can add the modules on to the beginning of your trip, before you go to Laos. Your trip will usually kick off in Bangkok, so we can arrange your airport transfer and first few nights accommodation for you with our Bangkok starter pack.

If you want to find out more about building your own dream holiday, our Laos travel specialists will be happy to help. We can put together a suggested personal itinerary or travel plan together for you. Just get in touch with us by phone or email, or click here for the quote request form. If you’d prefer, you can also combine Laos with Cambodia.

Culture and Elephants in northern Thailand (2 day trek)

Duration: 2 days / 1 night
Price: £49 per person - based on 2 people
Departure: Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays from Chiang Mai
This 2 day soft trek is a shortened version of our popular 3-day trek. This features all of the highlights of the longer trek, but less of the actual hiking. You'll cover longer distances by săwngthăew (converted pickup truck taxi), and you'll be on foot for no longer than three hours at a time. You'll visit a forestry elephant training centre, and later take a ride on one of these majestic animals. You'll stay overnight in simple accommodation, where you can wake up to the sounds of the jungle. During the last part of the journey, you'll drift peacefully downstream in a bamboo raft, taking in the breathtaking scenery that surrounds you.

Hidden Railay bay

Duration: 3 days / 2 nights
Price: from £69 per person - based on 2 people
Departure: Daily
Railay Beach has the feel of a remote island, even though it's easy to get to from Krabi. There's very little traffic here because the bay is enclosed by towering limestone cliffs. From Krabi it's a 10-minute trip by longtail-boat to Railay and what you will find here is a crescent-shaped bay with pearly-white beaches and spectacular rock formations jutting out from the sea. Along the beach you'll find several resorts and restaurants. Not the best place if you're planning on a shopping spree or some wild nightlife, instead it's peaceful and very relaxed here. If you want to explore the area, you can book a day trip to the smaller islands around Railay.
