Day 2: Boloven plateauThe Boloven plateau, in Southern Laos, lies approximately at an altitude of 1200 metres. Because of this the climate on the plateau is pleasantly cool, even during the summer. During our summer months you can expect rain showers from time to time that will give the entire area a wonderfully green hue. The villages on the plateau are only accessible via sand trails; this is one of the reasons why the area is so genuine. Many minorities live in the area such as the Laven, Katu and the Alak. The people here are known for their hand-woven materials and tattoos in the face, both heavily influenced by the Khmer. The eco-lodge you'll be staying at is located amidst the Dong Hua Sao natural reserve. The resort organises hikes through the area known for its many waterfalls and diverse flora. |
