During the first day you'll spend about 6 hours trekking through the impressive mountainous landscape of northern Laos, while you pass through green paddy-fields. You'll spend the night as the mountain tribe's people do in simple housing in a mountain village, surrounded by dense jungle. We believe this is the best way to experience how these people live. You don't have to have a very high level of physical fitness to participate in this trip to Laos. As long as you have will power and enthusiasm you'll be fine. You'll travel in a small group consisting of adventurous and curious travellers, just like you. Day 1: Hiking and overnight hill tribes stayIt's the first day of this trip to Laos and this morning you'll be picked up at your hotel in Luang Prabang. From the pick-up truck you'll see the green mountainous landscape pass you by. Today you'll go on a 6 to 7 hour trek in Laos. You'll hike past green paddy fields and you'll look out on the impressive limestone mountainous landscape. Along the way you'll pass mountain villages, where mountain tribes such as the Khmu and Hmong live. Your guide will tell you all about the flora and fauna you encounter along the way. |

Day 2: Adventures and paddy fieldsAt sunrise on day two of this trip to Laos you'll be awakened by the crowing roosters that roam the village.After breakfast you'll follow a path by the river to another Khmu settlement. This is a great place for a rest and you can go for a walk through the village. You'll pass by a small school where children of the village are educated. Later on you'll continue on your 4 hour trek through the paddy fields and tropical vegetation on the way to Nam Khan River. Here you'll take a boat trip to the Elephant Lodge. At the end of the afternoon a transfer will take you back to your hotel in Luang Prabang. |
Trekking trip to Laos: What to pack- Sheet and possibly a sleeping bag (this can also be rented on the spot)- Day pack (back pack), flash light and water canteen - Shorts and trousers, short-sleeved and long-sleeved shirt and raincoat or poncho - Hat for the sun, sun cream and insect repellent - Comfortable shoes or open slippers On your arrival back in Luang Prabang you would probably want to hop under a warm shower after your jungle adventure. That's why we suggest adding an extra overnight stay in Luang Prabang to this trip to Laos. The following day you can fly back to Bangkok or travel through Vientiane and on to Pakse in Southern Laos.
